About our badass writers: Hoa Nguyen is the author of As Long As Trees Last, Red Juice, and the forthcoming Violet Energy Ingots (all from Wave Books). She teaches poetics at Ryerson University’s Chang School, in Miami University’s MFA program, at the Milton Avery School for Fine Arts at Bard College, and in her long-running, private workshop. Natasha Marin is reluctant to call herself a "poet," so she has opted for other labels like "fuckyocouch black." She isn't from Seattle, which in shorthand indicates that she thinks the so-called Seattle Freeze is a code word for "people just being rude." She likes to include strangers in her work and is highly likely to engage in a less-than familiar way. She learns by playing and enjoys expanding her personal aesthetic through exposure to new spaces and new people. She has degrees and books and student loans along with children, a job, and a practice of serving tea at midnight around the world. She performs Mad Black Woman on Twitter @mikokuro. Matt Trease is an artist, IT Program Specialist, and esoteric. He also teaches poetry at The Richard Hugo House and reads tarot cards on an on-call basis for The Vajra on Capitol Hill in Seattle, WA. His poems have recently appeared or are forthcoming in *The Cordite Poetry Review, filling Station, Otoliths, VLAK, small po(r)tions, The Account, Apricity, Juked, White Stag Review, Hotel Amerika, *and* Fact Simile*. He is the author of the chapbook *Later Heaven: Production Cycles* (busylittle1way designs, 2013).
Margin Shift is a Seattle based poetry collective that's constantly shifting. We highlight poets of color, LGBTQI poets, poets from out of town, poets who are new to town, women poets, undocumented poets, experimental writers (whatever that might mean!), and brand new writers. Always changing, always shifting, always trying something different.
